Snapshot of my background
Being a twenty-eight year old new mother in the middle of a world wide pandemic, I found myself transitioning into a new career path. I have worked in a number of fields, seeming that I started working at the young age of six wielding a paint brush for my fathers painting business. Then helping run their restaurant, Al's Route 66 Cafe. Growing up in a service industry taught me the value of dependability, hard work, and customer relations. As an adult I took those values with me and I take pride in applying them to my work. Due to my husband job we have been transferred around in the last few years. Before COVID-19 hit, I was on track to obtaining my nursing degree. I enjoyed working in health care due to the opportunity it gave me to truly make a difference and help those in need. In June of 2020, I was blessed with becoming a mother to my beautiful baby girl. Since having my daughter I have decided to shift my career path so I can have the best of both worlds. Back in high school, I had worked with some basic design elements with our school newspaper. When I decided to get into web deign and development, it was just a way to have a career and be more available for my family. Going through the certificate program really opened my eyes to the opportunity web design and development gave me to expand my creative side. Not to mention having a remote career gives me the peace of mind that not only can I enjoy watching my daughter grow, all the while teaching her that can have a career woman and a momma at the same time.
On a personal note, as I said am a new mom to a beautiful little girl and happily married to my best friend. My husband works in the oil industry so his job has moved us around the last few years. With that being said, we consider ourselves adventurous individuals that enjoy the opportunity to explore and meet new people. If there is one positive thing I can say about moving around, it would be that you really learn how to adapt to new places and new people in your life. I have been lucky enough to generally land in places that allow me to enjoy the outdoors. As much as I like a night in, I love being out and active. I love snowboarding, hiking, camping and really any excuse to play sports. Currently I am in axe throwing league, and I must say it is oddly satisfyingly competitive. In the last year I have pushed myself to explore more into my creative side. I started photography so that I would be able to document my daughters growth. Played with different photo editing applications and sparked my interest in web design.
